Is the Power Plate catching on?

As I have mentioned before, a friend of mine in Greece uses the Power plate a few days a week for no more than 30 minutes a day.   That is the extent of his physical training, and he swears by it.  I find this hard to fathom, but the guy looks pretty fit.  Lately, I have been seeing Power Plate machines at some of the nicely equipped gyms around here in NYC.  Is this a new machine that will become a staple of a good workout routine, or is it just another fad?

As per the article in The Daily Record, the jury is still out on whether the perceived benefits outweigh the possible side effects from using the machine (brain damage being one of them).

Probably like most people who take their fitness seriously, I am wary of anything that might be considered a shortcut (or could potentially vibrate you to the point of brain damage).  Still, if it is used as part of an overall regimen, then that is a different story.

This is a heavy, serious machine and home owners beware. When you run this in your home it will shake your house like a small earthquake. Be sure you have a solid floor (concrete) for this.
